voice actress Kawakami Tomoko passes away




On 09 June 2011, seiyuu (voice actress) Kawakami Tomoko(川上 とも子) age 41, passed away from ovarian cancer. She is well-known for her roles as "Tenjo Utena" in “Revolutionary Girl Utena“, "Shindo Hikaru" in “Hikaru no Go“, "Hinata Fuyuki" in “Keroro Gunsō“, Akane Motomiya in "Harukanaru Toki no Naka de", Miu Furinji in Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple and Soifon in Bleach. (just to name a few). She also played many many other characters both in related movies and also for many many games.

Kawakami withdrew from her career in 2008 in order to focus on getting well. News of her death was a great shocked the Japanese, and many voice actors as well as anime directors have posted mourn for Kawakami-san.

We send our deepest condolences to all her family, friends and fans~

The passing-away Kawakami-san is definitely an unparallelble loss, her talent and skill as a seiyuu was what made many of the animes what they are.

Kawakami-san, お疲れ様 ~we will always remember you.
