Studio Ghibli’s animated film, “Karigurashi no Arrietty“, has been chosen as ‘Animation of the Year’ at the “10th Tokyo Anime Awards” in Tokyo.
“Karigurashi no Arrietty” is a story that portrays the relationship between a ‘tiny girl’ named Arrietty and a human boy.
Director Yonebayashi Hiromasa commented, “I think there’s something that could be understood by people in this generation who have experienced the Tohoku Earthquake.”
Meanwhile, “Yojo-Han Shinwa Taikei” and “Keion!” were chosen as ‘Best Entry’ in the TV category. Additionally, “Sazae-san” voice cast members Kato Midori (Sazae), Nagai Ichiro (Namihei), Asou Miyoko (Fune), and Sasuga Takako (Tarao) received the ‘7th Lifetime Achievement Award’.
